It was bound to happen sooner or later. The PC environment has been targeted for several years by organized hackers using packaged “kits” to create sophisticated attacks. The advantage to the bad guys is you don’t have to be a computer genius to to launch an attack. All the hard work has been done by other criminals and all you have to do is buy or rent the kit. This institutionalization has allowed a large number people to easily and cheaply get into the hacking business.
Now it seems Mac’s OS X has graduated to the big leagues and is being targeted by its own crime kit. Danish IT security firm CSIS Security Group blogged about a kit named Weyland-Yutani BOT claiming to be the first to attack the Mac platform.
